Sometimes I have wondered how different life would be
Had it been for a turn of fate or a twist in destiny
Or maybe it was bigger than just plans that had been laid
Maybe it had to do with every decision that I made
Had I not stumbled on each obstacle, I might be way ahead
But instead of only rushing, I learnt something instead
Had I always climbed each stepping stone that I had ever found
I may have reached the top by now but missed what’s all around
Had I opened every single door, that opportunity knocked
Maybe I would have found that it was best if they’d stayed locked
Had I always crossed the bridges, I don’t know where I’d have been
But the world that lay beneath them, would have been left unseen
Had I always run ahead, in the hope of what I’d find
I may have always wondered what I had left behind
I’m glad things went the way they did, ‘coz even in the race
The most important thing is that, I did it at my pace
It surprises me to wonder now how different life could be
For with just a little difference, I may not have been me!
